A Letter from the Rat

Christine,

It has been 3 weeks since I got called in for the New Crest project. I still haven’t been called into the big tower. The neighbors have been giving me weird looks and whispering each time I walk by. Then again, who wouldn’t gossip about the only guy in town with no wife or kids, or the guy who hasn’t left his house since arriving, or so they think.

I found a way into the tower. I’ve been watching them from afar and found out what the hell is going on with this whole thing. They’re experimenting on people. They have some sort of glasses technology they’re working on. I have no idea what it does yet, but it looks like it distorts your perception of reality in some way.

While snooping around, I overheard a conversation. This project is a make or break for the government. If it fails, everyone involved, including the innocent civilians, are going down with it. It’s like Manhattan all over again. By the time I heard the end of the conversation, the alarm started blaring. They knew I was here. I had to leave quickly to avoid being caught.

I wish I had you here. Doing this alone is raising so many eyebrows. I wish there was another way, but I’m going to just keep laying low until this whole mess is over. I’ll hopefully see you soon.

Yours,

The Rat of New Crest
