The Daily Life in New Crest

Imagine if you will, a suburb of perfectly equal houses, divided by white pickett fences. Each morning, fater wakes up, gets dressed, and has breakfast with his family. He sits down at 9am for the New Crest News. Mother sends the kids off to school, where they’ll learn about the work New Crest is doing to make America better and safer. Mother cleans up the house and prepares dinner for later that night. Father walks out the door and is greeted by the neighbors. Father works at the grocery store, where mother and her friends buy their groceries. Sometimes, the kids will come by for bubblegum or a glass of pop. Father comes home for dinner and watches the evening broadcast with the family. They watch their favorite nightly program, “Picture Show.” At the end of the broadcast, the kids go to bed while mother and father prepare for the next day.

The cycle repeats over and over and over again. It repeats until that day on the broadcast father hears “3201 and 3203, report to the citadel.”

Father and son, once tied down by television, work, and school, are now serving their civic duty. As they approach the citadel gates, they are met with armed guards. “Identification numbers?” one asks. “3201 and 3203,” says father in a scattered tone. “Go ahead.” says the other guard. As they approach the main doors, they are greeted by a female scientist.

“My name is Dr. Sharron Kris. I will be working with you two gentlemen today. First order of business, please change into the clothes provided in your lockers. Then, meet me in Test Room 1.”

The test clothes were a pair of white pants, a white collared shirt, and a black belt. White shoes were also provided. As they stepped into their test room, they were greeted by two chair and two pairs of rose-colored glasses. They were instructed to sit down, put the glasses on, and tell Dr. Kris what they saw. After the test concluded, they were each sent home with their stipend.

When they arrived home, mother asked them what the test was about. Father and son couldn’t remember what exactly happened. All they could remember was walking in and walking out with a check. The phone then rang and father picked it up.

“Good even Mr. Smith, this is Dr Kris from the Citadel. We wanted to thank you once again for your cooperation today with our tests. You and your family are now exempt from testing for one week. Have a great rest of your evening.”

The cycle will continue to repeat for the Smiths, as well as for the other 49 families that reside in the walls of New Crest. It’s a cycle of progress and success.
